Depending on the construction, the opposite side is designed for adhesive lamination or supplied with a thermal adhesive layer.

Evaluate a drawdown or printed proof under several lighting angles rather than approving the material from an unprinted film swatch.

Temperature, pressure and speed

For thermal lamination, insufficient energy can create weak bonding or silvering; excessive heat and pressure can affect appearance, curl or surface feel. The correct window depends on the film, adhesive layer, paper, ink coverage, moisture and machine configuration.

Ink curing and substrate condition

Ink must be fully cured and the sheet should be clean, flat and properly conditioned. Residual solvents, spray powder, silicone, wax, excessive moisture or low surface uniformity can reduce adhesion and make defects more visible.

Foil, UV and gluing

A surface designed to feel soft may have lower surface energy than an untreated print. Foil stamping, spot UV, screen ink and box-making adhesive must therefore be tested as a complete system. A compatible primer or dedicated adhesive may be required.

If the buyer needs a specific coefficient of friction, surface energy, gloss, haze, bond strength or regulatory documentation, that requirement should be stated explicitly and verified against the supplier’s current technical data.
