Do not evaluate only the centre of a clean sample; inspect the front panel, side panels and opening area after normal handling.

It is also important to separate three ideas: anti-fingerprint performance, soft touch and scratch resistance. The finish still needs to support the design. A glossy surface can highlight colour and clarity, while a matte surface can create a quieter, more technical appearance. Test the actual print, because ink coverage, graphics and package geometry influence the final result. The evaluation should include the operations used to make the box or pouch, followed by a basic handling simulation.

Brushed texture film: when the visual language is technical

Brushed texture BOPP film is a decorative option for brands that want a directional metallic or engineered appearance. It can support packaging for 3C devices, hardware, tools and premium gifts, particularly when the design language includes metal, precision or industrial materials.

The key consideration is texture direction. A logo, product name or fine graphic may appear differently depending on how the film runs across the panel. Before approval, check the artwork with the intended texture orientation and review multiple panels after folding or assembling the package.

Brushed texture film should not automatically be described as a metal foil or a barrier layer. If the package requires a specific barrier, sealing or compliance performance, those requirements must be reviewed as part of the complete structure.

A useful sample trial should imitate the finished product as closely as possible. Begin with the actual substrate and artwork, including the darkest colours and the highest ink coverage. Then assess the sample through the key production and handling steps.
