BOPP Film Categories & Applications

Since the late 1970s, the BOPP industry has continuously enriched its product varieties, adding color to our lives. BOPP products are classified by different uses into: Gloss Film, Matte Film, Pearl Film, Cover Film, Aluminum-plated Film, Tape Film, Bag-making Film, Heat-seal Film, Laser Film, Anti-fog Film, and more.

Main BOPP Film Categories

Primarily used for printing and packaging. Divided into thick film (>25μ) and thin film (<19μ).

3-layer co-extruded stretched film with heat-seal layer. Density <0.68, commonly used in food packaging.

Usually <18μ thin gloss film with double-sided corona treatment.

Commonly based on BOPET and CPP substrates. BOPP aluminum-plating is relatively rare in China.

Transparent BOPP film with moldable function layer. Used for anti-counterfeiting packaging and luxury decoration.

Detailed Applications

Gloss Film

Ordinary gloss film is mainly used for printing and packaging. Thick film refers to thickness above 25μ, while thin film refers to below 19μ.

Matte Film

Pearl Film

Mostly 3-layer co-extruded stretched film with a heat-seal layer on the surface. Commonly seen in chopstick bags. Pearl film has a density mostly controlled below 0.68, which helps save costs. Pearl film presents a white, opaque pearl effect with certain light-blocking ability, protecting light-sensitive products.

Laser Film

Future Outlook

BOPP film still has many high-end films such as capacitor films and custom films. It is expected that under the environment of competition pressure and shrinking profits for mass products, BOPP film varieties and new films will continue to develop, adding momentum to our packaging world.
